The mandolins that I am building are an "A" style, "F" hole model.
Standard features: Bone nut, ebony bridge, wood binding, wood finger rest, quality tuners, bound and arched fingerboard, shaded to a honey amber color and finished with a high quality hand-rubbed violin varnish.
I use only master grade, traditional violin family woods, that I have sawn from split bolts and air dried.
Back and sides woods: High curl Bigleaf Maple
Top wood: Englemann Spruce
Necks: High-curl Bigleaf Maple -- The necks have a 1/8" ebony insert for added strength and are 14 frets clear of the body. The fret scale is a 14" long scale.
Fingerboards and bridges: Ebony
Binding woods: Curl Maple with Ebony purfling.
Pickguard or finger rest: Quilt Big leaf Maple
Peghead overlay is cut from the same Quilt Maple as the finger rest.
Price for the "A" Mandolin is $3,500.
